BLOWDOWN Technology in Aspen HYSYS allows engineers to use the industry-leading depressurization technology for cold-case depressurization. The technology has been proven on over 400+ projects, with temperature predictions that are validated to within 3 Kelvin.

This is an introductory-level training video which will teach an engineer how to properly execute the following tasks in the context of assumptions built in to the Single Vessel Template deployed with Aspen HYSYS:

  1. How to define the system connectivity
  2. How to define the initial system inventories
  3. How to define the equipment geometry (piping, vessel, and orifice)
  4. How to run the analysis
  5. How to interpret the results plots and tables which are generated

  • Anyone with an interest in safety studies and basic general knowledge of Aspen HYSYS.
  • Anyone who has previously worked with the HYSYS Depressuring Utility
  • Anyone who wants to perform dynamic depressurization without going into Aspen HYSYS Dynamics

Prerequisites

This course assumes the engineer has introductory-level knowledge of simulating unit operations and streams in Aspen HYSYS.
