After building your simulation case, in this tutorial you will run the simulation, interpret Warning and Messages issued by Aspen Coil Wound, and determine the outlet conditions of the streams.
About the Series
Coil Wound heat exchanger, also known as Spiral Wound or Wound Coil exchanger, is a principal heat transfer equipment in LNG process. Using Aspen Coil Wound, available in Aspen EDR from V9.1 and beyond, you can rigorously rate and/or simulate Coil Wound Exchanger.
In this Getting Started series, you will learn how to simulate a multi-stream heat exchanger using Aspen Coil Wound. Using the provided inlet conditions, stream compositions, and exchanger geometry data in Coil Wound Getting Started Guide provided in the product documentation, you will build a simulation case to determine the outlet conditions of the streams.

By the end of the series, you will be able to understand the model requirements, and simulate a principle heat transfer equipment in LNG process using Aspen Coil Wound.
Script: Viewing Coil Wound Results
After you have successfully set up your coil wound model, it's time to run the simulation and view your results.
Run your case by clicking Run or pressing F5.
To see the progress of the calculation as it is running, click on the Run Status button on the ribbon.
This will bring up the Run Status tab which will show the convergence and heat balance every five iterations during the calculation.
The Warnings and Messages page will appear after a run has completed.
All warnings and messages should be carefully reviewed after each run.
The three Input Warnings issues for this case indicate that the input process conditions for some streams needed to be altered for the initial step of the calculation.
This only affects the start of the calculation. There are no issues with the final results of the calculation
To see an overview of the calculated results, navigate to Results | Results Summary | Overall Summary
This will show a summary of the inlet and outlet conditions for each stream as well as the calculated results for the overall exchanger.
To view the temperature profiles of the streams in the exchanger, go to Thermal / Hydraulic Summary | Thermal Performance | Temperature Graphs form
More information about each stream at points inside the exchanger can be found in tables in Calculation Details | Stream Details.
