Problem Statement:
How to install Software License Manager (SLM) License Server?

Solution:
This knowledge base article provides the installation steps for the SLM License Server application. AspenTech recommends to setup a seperate server (Physical, Virtual, or Cloud) to host SLM License Server. Please refer to the software and hardware specifications here.

First, download the latest version of the SLM Tools from the Download Center.
Once you have downloaded the SLM Tools, extract the zip file to a local folder on your C drive and then run setup.exe with the Run as Administrator option.

Next, follow these steps to install the SLM License Server:
1)  At the Welcome screen, click the Install and configure SLM button.

a.     SLM License Server

i.  Auto Upload Tool

Note: HTTP Server is optional. If this license server will also act as a usage log collection server, then this option will need to be installed.

b.    SLM Tools

i.  SLM Server Admin Tools (WLMAdmin for Administrators)
ii. SLM Client Tools

Note: Dongle Driver and Aspen Licensing Dashboard are optional. The Dongle Driver will need to be installed if your license is locked to an Aspen USB Dongle.
