PROBLEM STATEMENT:

In Aspen Petroleum Scheduler, How to solve 'Object reference not set to an instance of an Object' received for custom 'Edit in Excel' Template ?
Noticed this error while trying to open a custom 'Edit in Excel' template while editing a unit operation event. Refer below screenshot,
Excel version on which error noticed :Excel 2010

RESOLUTION:
Edit in Excel templates are usually templates for customers to edit all the events on a screen in Excel and then saving their work so that the Event schedule prepared in Orion will get automatically updated based on the changes made in this Excel template, this is an easy way of modifying the Event schedule rather having to go and modify each event individually from the Event screen.

To resolve this error the solution is to :
- Re-create the Edit in Excel Template on the same machine where the error persists.
By recreating the template on the same machine, the excel template does not have any template compatibility issues.
This issue is also noticed when Edit in Excel template is created on a higher version of excel and tried to use the same on Excel 2010 machine, hence we recommend to create the template in the same machine so as to avoid such template issues.

If the issue still does not get resolved still, kindly contact AspenTech Support for further assistance.
