Problem Statement
This KB article explains the basic Excel configuration for GDOT Model Update and GDOT Excel Add-In. This configuration is encouraged to assure proper functioning.

Solution
Excel settings are per-user settings, and so need to be set for each user that uses the GDOT Add-in or that is associated with a registered Model Update application in DCOMCNFG).
To change the settings:
  1. First, open Excel to a new, empty workbook, The use the File menu and go to Options.
  2. In the Options dialog, choose “General” and scroll down to the bottom and uncheck the options for prompting about Excel not being the default and about displaying the Start page:

  1. Then choose “Formulas” and set it to manual calculation:

  1. Then choose “Save” and uncheck both Autosave and AutoRecovery

  1. Finally, choose “Trust Center” and then click “Trust Center settings” and make sure these three folders are in the Trusted Locations, with “allow subfolders” enabled on each.
