How to download patches when you don’t have AspenTech software installed

Problem Statement:
There are times when users (typically administrators) want to be able to download patches for certain products – even if they do not have AspenTech software installed on their system.


Solution:
This requires that the user has access to the xml file that was used to generate the unattended/silent install as well as a support account.

How to download patches even if you do not have AT software installed:
  1. Install the Update Agent (https://esupport.aspentech.com/S_Article?id=000064601)
  2. Copy the xml file that is generated from the unattended install into the same directory that  the Update Agent is installed.
  3. Launch the Update Agent.  It will refer to the xml file to determine the applicable products to search for patches for. Refer to KB 000096507 on how to use the Update Agent.
