Problem Statement
The Merge action allows joining two or more DMC3 applications in one application. This action keeps the applications Models, Cases, and Configurations from the previous application on the new one. However, there are a few tips to remember when you need to perform this action.
Solution
1.- Import the application into one project that considers the main application. Also, do not affect this main application consider having a backup copy of this project.
2.- Check the list of options that you consider correct for the application. By default, the merge controllers window will allow you to Merge Models, Merge Tuning values, Calculation and User Define Entries and Marge identification Cases. If one of these is not needed, consider unchecking the boxes. This helps just to keep the information you need for the new merged application.
3.- Consider the following case. Application A has a model and a basic Configuration and Application B is a more advanced application that has a Model, a robust configuration, and Optimization Values. In this case, you need to conserve the configuration and tuning of B application. When you click on Merge the Merge Controller window will appear and it will ask you to select a primary Controller and a Secondary Controller. In this case, as it needs to priority to conserve the parameter for Application B, this one needs to be set as the secondary controller and set A as the primary controller. Otherwise, the configuration of application A will be set as a priority and the configuration of Controller B will be lost in the new merged application.
4.- The Merge Action only allows merging two applications at the same time. If you require to have more than two applications, then you will need to merge the product of the first merge process with the next application. Let say that you will need to merge A, B and C. Then you need to merge first A and B, and then the AB application needs to be merged with C. (Note: Keep in mind the previous consideration for this last actions)
