Course Objective

This is a refresher course for Aspen PIMS fundamentals and designed for participants who are preparing to take the Aspen PIMS User Certification exam. This version is delivered virtually through a 4-hrs online instructor-led session with access to virtual training lab for self-practices. Certification exam will be held on the next day.

Prerequisites

  • A general awareness of the interaction between refining technology operations and planning.
  • Attended PIMS courses in the past, or have reasonable practical usage experience with Aspen PIMS.
  • Computer with Internet access, webcam and audio capabilities. During the online certification, participants will be required to turn on their webcam.

Day 1 – Morning (0900H – 1300H): 

Getting Started

  • Review of LP concepts
  • Review economics concepts
  • Using table case and case comparison
  • Exercises
Model Building
  • To recognize formatting of matrix columns and rows
  • To explain the usage of supply and demand tables
  • To configure product blending structure
  • To understand miscellaneous tables and learn parameter rows for reporting
  • Exercises
Crude Modeling 
  • To brief on crude distillation architecture in PIMS


Day 1 – Afternoon (1300H – 1800H):

Self-practice with Aspen PIMS through cloud-based environment


Day 2 – Afternoon (1300H – 1700H):

Aspen User Certification Exam
