  • Comprehend the differences between Traditional versus Statistical Quality Control
  • Describe SPC and associated terminology
  • Distinguish the Aspen application from other SPC products
  • Differentiate between Statistical and Specification limits
  • Define BatchSPC
  • Develop a working knowledge of Aspen SPC tools and functionality
  • Summarize a flow for generating Quality products
  • Workshop: Getting to Know Aspen Real-time SPC – Experiment with various Context menu options

Pareto and Control Charts
  • Describe the purpose of AspenTech Pareto and other Control Charts
  • Interpret and read a Pareto Chart
  • Organize/Format data for SPC using Samples and Subgroups, and discuss Ad-Hoc versus Pre-Configured records.
  • Use different options that are available within Control Charts
  • View the various types of AspenTech Control Charts

Viewing Alarms
  • Use many features like Subgroup Details, Subgroup Comments, and Alarms that are part of standard control charts
  • Identify different ways of viewing SPC Alarms

  • Evaluate the result of using the Mean Square Successive Difference (MSSD) algorithm for calculating Standard Deviation.
  • Workshop: Create an Aspen SPC record using the Ad Hoc to SPC Utility

Aspen SPC Configuration Utility
  • Create an Aspen InfoPlus.21 database SPC record using the Real-time SPC Configuration Utility.
