Deploying Aspen Mtell to a production environment

The Aspen Mtell application is a condition monitoring solution that uses automated Machine Learning to stop machines from breaking down, makes them last longer, reduces maintenance costs, and increases the net product output of any process.


This course prepares students to install, deploy and manage a Mtell solution. In this training, learn to install and configure Aspen Mtell, SQL Database, and the necessary EAM and Historian Connections. You will use Mtell System Manager to connect to various data sources, configure the services required to run Machine Learning Agents, and setup security and notifications for Agent alerts. 

Audience:

Application Support Engineer who will manage Aspen Mtell application deployment and configuration or Engineers, Consultants, Managers focused on Preventative Maintenance and System Reliability.

1.) Asset Performance Management and Aspen Mtell Overview

  • Explain the purpose of using Aspen Mtell
  • Define key terminology used in explaining the behavior of the application
  • Identify the main applications used to control Aspen Mtell
  • Describe the software architecture
  • Explain the workflow for the standard implementation strategy


2.) Installing and Upgrading Aspen Mtell

  • Install Aspen Mtell
  • Upgrade the Aspen Mtell base version
  •  Install Aspen Mtell patches


3.) Aspen Mtell SQL Server Database

  • Generate a new Aspen Mtell database
  • Switch between Aspen Mtell databases
  • Workshop: Create a new Mtell Database
  • Workshop: Manage SQL Server Databases


4.) Configure Aspen Mtell Alert Manager

  • Bind a certificate in IIS to be used by Alert Manager
  • Generate a new Alert Manager database
  • Set up the Mtell API
  • Connect Alert Manager to the Aspen Mtell database

5.) Aspen Mtell System Manager

  • Open and Navigate the Aspen Mtell System Manager
  • Set up basic settings used by Aspen Mtell
  • Create Connections to EAM Systems and Plant Historians

6.) Aspen Mtell Services and System Health Monitoring

  • Set up and start Agent and Training Services from within the System Manager user interface
  • Set up system health management strategies
  • Create and configure the Aspen Mtell Log Manager database
  • View and analyze log files

  • Workshop: Create Log Manager database and analyze log files


7.) Using CSV Files in Lieu of Live Connections

  • Create an asset hierarchy
  • Configure a CSV historian in lieu of a live historian connection and import sensor data from CSV files
  • Place CSV files in the required folders for automatic import
