Problem Description

In DMC3 Builder/Deployment view the user tries to do a test connection and the following error shows:

Read failure.
The given key was not present in the dictionary

Solution

The above error shows when DMC3 Builder is not able to recognize the IO source in use by the controller.

The most common reason for this error is a IO Source name is being used for one of the tags and the IO source is not one of the available names. In some cases, this can even be a case-sensitive naming problem. For example, an IO Source called "IOSRC1" is defined, but the IO Source for the parameter is entered as "IoSrc1".
The solution is to check the IO Source for all parameters with IO Tag connections.

Another issue that could trigger this error is due to a missing configuration or a wrong entry on the AspenTech.ACP.IO.config file. To solve the problem:

  1. Launch “Configure Online Server” and navigate to the IO Tab.
  2. Delete the IO sources.
  3. Stop Aspen Tech Production Control RTE Service or uncheck the “Enable Server” box in the Server tab and hit apply.
  4. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\AspenTech\RTE\VXX.X\Config folder and open AspenTech.ACP.IO.config file with note pad. The old IO Source should not be there.
Note: Don’t edit this file.
  1. Start Aspen Tech Production Control RTE Service or check the “Enable Server” box in the Server tab and hit apply.
  2. Go to the IO Source and re-add the source.
  3. Back to DMC3 Builder/Deployment click on Test connections.

If the above does not solve the problem, please reach out to Aspen Tech support.
